Standard Countersunk Head Rivets

Standard countersunk head rivets are designed for permanent joints where a lower-profile finish is required on the visible surface of the assembly.

The countersunk head allows the rivet to sit more flush with the surface when the corresponding countersunk hole is prepared.

Within the Bearfix DIN 7337 range, countersunk rivets are available in different materials, diameters and lengths to suit different fastening requirements.

DIN 7337 countersunk head rivets

The countersunk configuration is identified in the Bearfix catalogue with the suffix TS.

The main standard countersunk families are:

  • AL-TS: aluminium Mg 3.5 body with zinc-plated steel mandrel.
  • AOZ-TS: zinc-plated steel body with zinc-plated steel mandrel.
  • IX A2-TS: stainless steel body with stainless steel mandrel.

AL-TS – Aluminium Mg 3.5 / zinc-plated steel mandrel

The AL-TS family combines an aluminium Mg 3.5 rivet body with a zinc-plated steel mandrel.

This range complies with DIN 7337 and is available in diameters from 2.4 to 4.8 mm.

The countersunk head is suitable for applications where the rivet head needs to project less from the surface of the component.

AOZ-TS – Zinc-plated steel

AOZ-TS rivets are manufactured with a zinc-plated steel body and zinc-plated steel mandrel.

The Bearfix catalogue includes this countersunk DIN 7337 family in diameters from 3.0 to 4.8 mm.

This configuration provides an all-steel solution for applications where zinc-plated steel is required for both the rivet body and the mandrel.

IX A2-TS – Stainless steel

IX A2-TS rivets are the stainless steel countersunk version within the DIN 7337 range.

The catalogue specifies a stainless steel body and stainless steel mandrel, with diameters from 3.2 to 4.8 mm.

This material configuration is suitable for applications where stainless steel is required for the fastening system.

Characteristics of countersunk head rivets

  • Countersunk head geometry.
  • DIN 7337 standard configurations.
  • Installation from one side of the joint.
  • Available in different diameters and lengths.
  • Aluminium, zinc-plated steel and stainless steel options.
  • Designed to reduce the projection of the rivet head above the surface.

Applications

Countersunk head rivets are used in assemblies where the fastening head needs to remain more integrated with the surface of the component.

To obtain the intended finish, the hole or component surface must have the corresponding countersunk geometry.

They are suitable for different industrial fastening applications depending on the materials to be joined, joint thickness and required rivet material.

How to select a countersunk head rivet

To select the correct rivet, consider:

  • Rivet diameter.
  • Rivet length.
  • Total thickness of the materials to be joined.
  • Hole diameter.
  • Countersunk geometry.
  • Rivet body material.
  • Mandrel material.

The required length must be selected according to the actual grip thickness of the joint.
