Product description – RD threaded stud
The BEARFIX® RD reduced-shank threaded stud is designed for drawn arc stud welding with ceramic ferrule. It is especially suitable where a reduced weld bead diameter is required, only slightly larger than the external thread diameter.
The RD type has thread almost down to the welding tip, with the reduced shank approximately equal to the thread core diameter. This allows a weld bead only 0.5–1 mm larger than the thread diameter, ideal for restricted spaces or clean finishes.
⚠️ Important: The reduced welding tip decreases the stud bearing strength by approximately 15% compared with MD / PD / FD types. Where required, choose the next larger diameter.
The supplied ceramic ferrule protects the weld pool, concentrates heat and limits oxidation.
