Standard TT dome-head rivets

Standard TT dome-head rivets are mechanical fasteners designed to create permanent joints between different components. They can be installed from only one side of the assembly, deforming the rivet body during installation to form the rear closure.

The dome head is the standard configuration within this family and provides a defined bearing surface on the materials being joined. The catalogue includes different combinations of materials, diameters and lengths to adapt the rivet to the requirements of each application.

TT Dome-head Rivets

The designation TT identifies the dome-head configuration within the standard rivet range. This geometry is used in general fastening applications requiring a permanent riveted joint.

The catalogue includes different versions of this geometry, varying mainly in the material used for the rivet body and mandrel. These include rivets with an aluminium body and zinc-plated steel mandrel, aluminium with an aluminium mandrel, aluminium with a stainless-steel mandrel, stainless steel, copper and other specific combinations.

Features of TT Rivets

  • Dome head for general applications.
  • Installation by deformation of the rivet body.
  • Single-sided installation.
  • Available in different diameters.
  • Wide range of lengths.
  • Different material combinations for the rivet body and mandrel.
  • Standardised versions according to the configurations shown in the catalogue.

Available Materials

The TT dome-head rivet range includes several material configurations.

The AL-TT version uses Mg 3.5 aluminium for the rivet body and zinc-plated steel for the mandrel. It is one of the most extensive families in the catalogue, with diameters ranging from 2.4 to 6.4 mm.

Other available configurations include:

  • ALX-TT: aluminium body and stainless-steel mandrel.
  • TUX-TT: specific configuration with a stainless-steel mandrel.
  • IX-A2-TT: 306 stainless-steel body and 321 stainless-steel mandrel.
  • IX-A4-TT: stainless-steel body and mandrel.
  • CU-TT: copper body and zinc-plated steel mandrel.

These variants are identified separately in the technical tables of the catalogue.

Available Sizes

AL-TT – Mg 3.5 Aluminium / Zinc-plated Steel

The AL-TT family is the most extensive dome-head rivet range in the catalogue. It is available in diameters of 2.4, 3.0, 3.2, 3.4, 4.0, 4.8, 6.0 and 6.4 mm.

The catalogue provides the individual references and their corresponding grip ranges for each length. For example, the 4.8 mm diameter range includes references from AL4806TT to AL4870TT, while the 6.4 mm diameter range includes references from AL6410TT to AL6440TT.

ALX-TT – Aluminium / Stainless Steel

The ALX-TT family is available in diameters of 3.0, 3.2, 4.0 and 4.8 mm. The catalogue includes different lengths for each diameter.

Stainless Steel – IX-A2 and IX-A4

For applications requiring greater corrosion resistance, the catalogue includes stainless-steel dome-head rivets.

The IX-A2-TT family uses 306 stainless steel for the rivet body and 321 stainless steel for the mandrel. It is available in diameters of 3.0, 3.2, 4.0 and 4.8 mm.

The IX-A4-TT family is also available in several dome-head diameters, including 3.0, 3.2, 4.0 and 4.8 mm, depending on the catalogue reference.

CU-TT – Copper Body

The catalogue also includes the CU-TT family, with a copper body and zinc-plated steel mandrel. It is available in diameters of 3.0, 3.2, 3.4, 4.0 and 4.8 mm.

Applications

TT dome-head rivets are designed for permanent joints requiring quick installation by riveting.

The variety of materials allows the rivet to be adapted to different combinations of components. Aluminium versions with zinc-plated steel mandrels cover a wide range of general applications, while stainless-steel and copper versions provide specific material options when required by the operating conditions.

Advantages of Dome-head Rivets

The dome head provides a defined bearing surface on the component and is one of the most commonly used standard riveting configurations.

The main advantage of the TT range is the variety of available combinations. The catalogue offers different materials, diameters and lengths, allowing the correct rivet to be selected according to the total thickness of the materials being joined and the operating conditions.

The riveting system also allows installation from only one side, which is particularly useful when the rear side of the joint is inaccessible.

Selecting a TT Rivet

To select the correct dome-head rivet, the following factors should be considered:

  • Rivet diameter.
  • Rivet length.
  • Total thickness of the materials being joined.
  • Rivet body and mandrel materials.
  • Operating environment.

For each reference, the catalogue provides the rivet diameter, head dimensions, mandrel diameter, required hole diameter and corresponding grip range.
