Bearfix structural rivets

Structural rivets are designed to create permanent joints in applications where a strong mechanical fastening solution suitable for structural assemblies is required.

Within this range, the catalogue includes the MX-IX-TT and MX-ALX-TT models, both with dome heads and available in different diameters and lengths to suit the thickness of the materials to be joined.

Structural rivet range

The structural rivet range in the catalogue consists of two main configurations:

  • MX-IX-TT: dome head structural rivet with a stainless steel 302 body and stainless steel 304 mandrel.
  • MX-ALX-TT: dome head structural rivet with an aluminium Mg 2.5 body and stainless steel 302/304 mandrel.

Both families are part of the structural fastening range in the catalogue and are available in different diameters and lengths.

Characteristics of structural rivets

  • Dome head.
  • Designed for structural applications.
  • Available in different diameters and lengths.
  • Different grip ranges available.
  • MX-IX version with stainless steel 302 body.
  • MX-ALX version with aluminium Mg 2.5 body.
  • Stainless steel mandrels according to the configuration.

MX-IX-TT – Stainless steel

MX-IX-TT structural rivets feature a dome head and are manufactured with stainless steel 302 for the rivet body and stainless steel 304 for the mandrel.

This configuration is available in diameters of 4.0 and 4.8 mm, with different lengths to cover different grip ranges.

For the 4.0 mm diameter, the catalogue includes references MXIX4010TT, MXIX4012TT and MXIX4015TT, with grip ranges of 1.5–6, 3.5–7.5 and 6–10 mm respectively.

For the 4.8 mm diameter, the references are MXIX4810TT, MXIX4812TT, MXIX4815TT and MXIX4817TT, with grip ranges of 1.5–6, 3–7.5, 6.5–10.5 and 9–12.5 mm.

MX-ALX-TT – Aluminium body

MX-ALX-TT structural rivets have a dome head with a different material configuration. The catalogue specifies aluminium Mg 2.5 for the rivet body and stainless steel 302/304 for the mandrel.

The range is available in diameters of 3.2, 4.0 and 4.8 mm, offering different lengths and grip ranges.

For the 4.0 mm diameter, the available references are MXALX4009TT, MXALX4012TT and MXALX4016TT, with grip ranges of 1.2–6.4, 4–9.5 and 6.4–12.7 mm.

For the 4.8 mm diameter, the catalogue includes MXALX4810TT, MXALX4815TT, MXALX4816TT and MXALX4824TT, with grip ranges of 1.6–6.4, 4.8–11, 6.4–12.7 and 12.7–19.8 mm.

Available materials

The structural rivet range offers two different material configurations:

  • MX-IX-TT: stainless steel 302 body and stainless steel 304 mandrel.
  • MX-ALX-TT: aluminium Mg 2.5 body and stainless steel 302/304 mandrel.

This variety makes it possible to select the rivet configuration according to the materials required for the joint.

Applications of structural rivets

Structural rivets are intended for applications where permanent fastening by riveting and a configuration suitable for structural joints are required.

The availability of different diameters and lengths makes it possible to adapt the rivet to the total thickness of the joint.

The choice between MX-IX-TT and MX-ALX-TT will mainly depend on the materials required for the application.

Advantages of structural rivets

One of the main advantages of this range is the possibility of choosing between different material configurations within the same structural rivet family.

MX-IX-TT rivets provide an all-stainless-steel solution for both the body and mandrel, while MX-ALX-TT rivets combine an aluminium Mg 2.5 body with a stainless steel 302/304 mandrel.

In addition, the availability of different lengths makes it possible to cover different grip ranges without using a single reference for every application.

How to select a structural rivet

To correctly select a structural rivet, the following factors should be taken into account:

  • Rivet diameter.
  • Rivet length.
  • Total thickness of the materials to be joined.
  • Hole diameter.
  • Body and mandrel material.
  • Grip range of the reference.

The catalogue provides the dimensions and corresponding grip range for each reference, so the rivet length should be selected according to the actual thickness of the joint.
